Bahnstadt is an under construction new district of Heidelberg on the site of the former railway station, which should be the largest passive house settlement in the world after its completion. It is mainly in the area around a railway wasteland and freight yard surfaces which have been abandoned by Deutsche Bahn. Two technical monuments, the water tower on Czernyring and a railway depot and water tower are preserved at the edge of Bahnstadt.
